Arrival in Oxya Karditsa, located at 900m at the north side of Karava in Central Greece. We settle our stuff at the guesthouse and we are preparing for the next day. If there is time we can hike at Profitis Ilias close to the village.

Starting from St. Nikolaos we ascent to Karava at 2,184, the highest peak of Agrafa mountains. The view from the peak is astonishing as we can see from mt Olympus to the north to Tzoumerka mt to the west and Parnassus to the south.

We will get transferred to Mpelokomitis village near Plastiras Lake, where we will hike to Elatakos hut through a forest that provides visitors with the opportunity to observe the avifauna of the area and the structure of the wider area’s ecosystems, but at the same time enjoy the unique view of the Thessalian plain and the Agrafa mountain complex.

A small wooden hut is located at the “Elatakos” location, at the upper limits of the forest and before the subalpine zone, at an altitude of 1,455 meters.

An amazing water kayak route, in its turquoise calm waters, starts from the northeast side of the lake. The route is circular and ends again at the same point. We move along the coast and enjoy the wonderful natural environment. In the middle of our route we stop at the sources of the lake where we walk along the bank of the river Stefaniotis. Of particular interest are the trees that have been submerged in the lake, they can be approached and photographed by anyone who wishes. We return to the starting point, where we enjoy a meal with traditional local products, we also do not miss the opportunity to take a cool dip in its emerald turquoise waters.
